The Bach Farm
Project Summary
Our studio was contacted in December '05 by a long-time friend and farm owner, Kay Bach. Kay, a small Hereford cattle farmer in Upstate NY had been trying for years to secure a grant from New York State, which would help fund the restoration of the farm's old and waning barn. Year after year, she would go through the routine of filling out the necessary paperwork, only to receive a letter of rejection.
Kay had heard abourt our studio's success with some of our previous clients, most notably our engagement with NY-Mobile, LLC, and thought perhaps we would be able to work our magic for her as well. We spent two days shooting photos and videos of her farm, drafted a comprehensive grant proposal/request (including detailed maps, farm specs, barn restoration estimates), and subsequently submitted the package to New York State for approval.
In addition to developing a proposal, our studio contacted various New York State politicians in an effort to gain support for Kay's grant request and to explain the urgency of her situation.
In December '06 Kay received notification that her farm had been awarded a $50,000 Barn Restoration Grant. Restoration should begin during the Summer of '07.
